Letters from Liberia
The International African Institute, Centre of African Studies and SOAS sponsored the publication of the late J.D.Y. Peel's Letters from Liberia (ISBN 978-0-72860-407-0, 68pp, June 2016). We are pleased to make the full pdf available online here.
Letters from Liberia were semi-public documents which J.D.Y. Peel wrote regularly over a period of several years to his family and friends during visits to be with his wife, Anne Ogbigbo Peel on her UN-posting in the Grand Cape Mount region of Liberia, which also coincided with the Ebola episode. This book represents a late publication from this leading scholar of Africa with ethnographic insights into this little-written-about about country.
